"When Lighthouse first opened, I
attended as a youth. After dropping out of high school, I
went back to earn an academic letter to graduate. While
attending the university, I volunteered for Lighthouse.
After about 2 years I became a part-time staff member, 6 months
after that I became the Facility Manager on a full-time basis.
I have been a staff member at Lighthouse since spring of 1996.
My philosophy is simple, if you give a young person a nurturing
environment and believe in them, they will excel in all areas of
their lives. I try to treat them like a family member, to
help them understand life's ups and downs. I can relate to
them because I have been there myself. The foundation that
one sets, all starts with education. That is the
building block that will always help them in their life."

I began working here in spring of
1999. I learned about Lighthouse when I was attending the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I started part-time and
one and a half years later I became the Program Coordinator.
I plan activities here with the help and suggestions of
teenagers. I believe a place like this is needed for every
teenager. We provide many services but most of all love.
I consider people here my extended family members. I am thankful
for working here!
